3.7.4 Weekend Leave

The following conditions apply for boarders seeking to take leave on weekends, in conjunction with 3.7.1 Approval and General Conditions of Leave.

Minimum colour level for each of the following leave types is green, unless specified otherwise.

Leave on weekends may be during the day, overnight or school-based. Parents may wish to take their son on day or overnight leave on a weekend, or may wish to approve them going on day or overnight leave with another family (hosts). 

3.7.4.1 Application

For weekend leave, a REACH Leave Application must be submitted and approved, generally by Wednesday (if bookings are required, then by Tuesday). In exceptional circumstances late leave applications may be accepted.

Where students are visiting another family, the host family must be added to the REACH application. This guarantees that all parents have knowledge of the leave and have contacted each other.

3.7.4.2 Weekend Leave (Day or Overnight)

For day or overnight weekend leave with Parents or Hosts, a REACH Leave Application must be submitted and approved prior to arriving at the school to collect the student. If the leave is to be undertaken with a host the application should be submitted by Friday 10:00am. If the Leave application with a Host is received after this time the Duty Master will communicate with the Executive on Call prior to permitting the leave.

3.7.4.3 Weekend Night (Movie) Leave

Students in Years 11 and 12 may be permitted to go to a movie provided they have an approved Saturday Night Movie Leave application in REACH, including approval by their parents. Year 11 students are permitted only two night leaves per term. Year 12 have unlimited night leave.

Students who are 18 years of age are reminded that they cannot consume alcohol whilst on leave. 

3.7.4.4 Town Leave (Saturday morning)

Each Saturday morning all students may go to town provided uniform and colour level are appropriate. A member of the duty team will accompany the students in the CBD during the morning to assist with the welfare and safety of students. Some students will proceed from the CBD directly to their sporting venues and return on a sport bus later in the day.

Students in Years 7 to 11 must wear Greys, Year 12 students are permitted to go on town leave in smart casuals. Students involved in sporting activities on Saturday morning are permitted to attend these activities in sports uniform.

A REACH Leave application is not required for this leave

3.7.4.5 School Based Leave

The following conditions apply for leave on the school site.

Firstly, Students must be on bronze or a higher colour level. And specifically for;

  • Fishing in the Peel River – Students must stay on the Farrer Farm. A minimum of three (3) students who must remain together. At least one member of the group must have a mobile phone with them. Students are not permitted to swim in the river.
  • Golf - Students may request leave to the Farrer Golf Course. The students must be a member of the course. There must be at least three (3) students in the group. At least one member of group must have a mobile phone with them.

A REACH Leave application is not required for this leave, but approval of the Duty Master is required.
