Renewable Solar Project
The Energy Efficiency Solutions (EES) Project was initiated as a joint venture between Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and the NSW Department of Primary Industries. The objectives include overcoming industry vulnerability to rising energy costs, increasing sector/farm profitability and improving the competitiveness of NSW primary industries. It also introduced students to opportunities for use of new technology in agriculture.
The project, installed during 2021 by local company Wynergy, consisted of 152 solar panels which generate energy for the operation of the irrigation pumps, and has replaced the diesel powered irrigation pumps. It produces up to 130,000kWh per annum.
An excellent video of
the project is available here from the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
