Year 7 Aboriginal Culture Incursion
Our Year 7 students recently took part in an incredible cross-curricular incursion exploring Aboriginal Culture, connecting both History and
Visual Arts.
Thank you to Matt Nean and his team from Opportunity Hub for guiding our students in creating their own life stories through Aboriginal symbols and artwork. Some students illustrated their transition from primary to high school, while others depicted their identity—family, background, hobbies, and interests.
In the coming weeks, students will transfer their original artwork onto possum skins in their Visual Arts classes, further deepening their connection to culture and storytelling.
This incursion provided an engaging, informative, and meaningful insight into Aboriginal culture while encouraging alternative ways of learning and connecting with history.
What a fantastic experience for our students!
