Year 11 Water Treatment Plant Visit
Year 11 Biology students spent an afternoon this week visiting the Tamworth Water Treatment Plant, aiming to learn how the facility helps
reduce the spread of disease by cleaning and purifying the town's water supply.
The students were given a first hand tour of how water enters the facility from the Peel River and Dungowan Dam, followed by a step-by-step guide through the purification and treatment process.
As part of their current studies on infectious disease, the students were able to observe how the treatment facility removes bacteria and viruses from the water using a combination of chemicals, along with fine and coarse-grain minerals.
A big thank you to the facility staff for providing our students with this valuable opportunity.
