WW1 Living History
Shane Blackman from WW1 Living History came to Farrer to share historical artefacts and knowledge about the frontline experiences of
trench warfare in World War I.
During presentations to Year 9, Year 10, and the Year 11 Modern History class, Shane presented a hands-on learning experience which looked
at weaponry, uniforms, food and medical supplies from World War I. Students learned about empathy for the experiences of our soldiers, the
usefulness of primary sources when investigating history, and some of the gruesome aspects of trench warfare.
As always, Shane used his extensive knowledge to deliver an entertaining and engaging presentation full of student participation. Thanks
for coming to Farrer Shane!
