Vex IQ Robotics “Rapid Relay”

On Wednesday 25th September, 8 Farrer teams joined teams from Nemingha Public School, Currabubula Public school, Tamworth Regional Library and Magikid Academy to compete in Vex IQ Robotics “Rapid Relay”. With 70 matches and over 100 people in attendance, this was the biggest robotics event held at Farrer with a 3 state championship spots available.

Farrer teams did not disappoint, walking away with two awards from the Judges. Our on field performance was excellent with 2340A Albert Einswine and 2340E Pigcasso gaining the runner up in the finals to a very strong Magikids Alliance.

This was also our first event coaching students from Nemingha PS. Our students from Nemingha enjoyed the competition and 74400D earned the Judges award for their continued efforts towards improving their robot’s performance over the event. The students from Nemingha were very appreciative of their Yr 9 Coaches as were the teachers from Nemingha Public school.

Commended teams for the Event were:
2340D - Elon Tusk -Amaze Award for a consistently high-performing and competitive robot.
2340H - Frankenswine - Build Award for a well-constructed robot that is built with a high degree of attention to detail in order to hold up to the rigors of competition.
2340A - Albert Einswine - Teamwork Runner up Alliance
2340E - Pigcasso - Teamwork Runner up Alliance
74400D - Nemingha Team 4 - Judges award for consistent effort and improvement throughout the event. (Farrer Students - Sam Ryan and Henry Chatfield as Coaches)

After the event students received a special treat with Guy and Stephen from 7998E - Burning Bread who talked about their experience at the World championships in Houston where they were runners up in their division placing them in the top 20 teams in the world.

Thank you to Lael Grant and the 5 Judges who gave up their time to allocate awards and to Harry Meppem, Patrick Belt and Sanchit Jagadeesan who did an amazing job refereeing the tournament, the Yr 9 coaches for the Nemingha teams and Mr Vigar and the other event volunteers who made the day special for all the teams attending the event.
