Once a Farrer boy, Always a Farrer boy - Stuart Maunder

We were thrilled to welcome Farrer old boy Stuart Maunder back to Farrer as our special guest speaker at the 86th Annual Speech Day!  Stuart also took the time to tour the school and meet with teachers and students, making it a truly memorable day.

A name everyone knows, Stuart is the name behind the Stuart Maunder Centre (SMC), and his journey from Farrer to becoming the Director of the Victorian Opera is nothing short of inspiring. 

In the 2023 issue of Farrer Myall Magazine and as guest speaker at our 2024 Speech Day, Stuart reflects on his path—he wasn't the "farming type," yet Farrer played a role in shaping his journey. As he put it, "I think I’m the only director currently working in opera who had to study Agriculture for the HSC!" But with support from Farrer, he found his own way, proving that the lessons learned here go far beyond the classroom. 

An inspiring day, an inspiring man, and a reminder of the power of a Farrer education!
