Farrer's strong sense of belonging
At Farrer, we believe that a strong sense of belonging is the cornerstone of a meaningful and successful educational experience. This Education Week, we’re excited to share some insights directly from our students on what it means to be part of Farrer and the sense of belonging they have experienced.
Tully Year 7:
"The strong bonds between students and staff create a sense of belonging that I haven’t experienced anywhere else. It’s reassuring to know
that there are people who genuinely care about my well-being and success. This makes me feel proud to be a part of Farrer."
Oli, Year 10:
"Being part of the Farrer Family is an incredible feeling. To me, it means to have brothers who look out for each other, teachers who want
the best for you and opportunities that inspire us to be the best version of ourselves. Personally, I feel like I belong to Farrer through
my involvement in rugby league, the SRC and waterpolo. It’s opportunities like these that allow me to give back to a community that has
done so much for me."
Iva, Year 12:
“To me, a sense of belonging is the feeling of being accepted and being connected to a group. The Farrer Family is exactly that for me.
Farrer has allowed me to feel accepted, included and part of something that makes me feel like I belong.”
Will, Year 12:
"Being part of Farrer really brings a deep sense of community. As a boarder since year 7, I've experienced unparalleled camaraderie and
mateship. For instance, it's unique to go from playing rugby against two Farrer teams to sharing a meal together. With diverse groups of
people, finding a friend group that suits you is easy. Farrer’s support network of teachers and staff, who act as mentors and offer extra
help, is invaluable. I’m proud to be part of Farrer, as it has shaped who I am and provided me with a great group of friends and a support
network surrounding me always."
As we celebrate Education Week, we’re reminded of the importance of nurturing this sense of belonging, which helps our students thrive
academically, socially, and personally.
