Farrer attends NSW State Robotics Championships
First time ever!
On the 10th of November, Farrer’s Robotics Team, 2340H Frankenswine competed at the NSW state championships. Having qualified only a week before, the boys were very excited about competing at a state representative level.
After getting settled at the tournament and meeting some of the 60 teams competing, the team started their journey with a shaky performance in the practice matches when paired with 2076X from Knox for 20 points.
Qualification matches rapidly proceeded with a solid score of 57 when paired with another Knox team 2076E and 69 point game with Magikids 7998A. A difficult match followed with a score of 26 when paired with another Knox team 2076G but the boys dug deep to come back and score 56 when paired with 8235X from James Ruse.
After a quick lunch break, Farrer had some difficult matches with 8235N and 8235W from James Ruse only scoring 20 points, and 25 respectively. We finished the qualifying matches 25th and 21st in the skills rankings which is a fantastic result!
Head referee, Jonathan Koh complimented the Farrer team for their attitude towards other teams, their exceptional knowledge of the rules, and their role as excellent ambassadors for the school.
Thank you to the volunteers who assisted on the day, including Head Referee Jonathan Koh from St Cath’s Waverley, Judge Advisor Lael Grant, Chris Harding from Vex Australia, Ian Fairhurst from Knox Grammar, Jarod and Kevin Li from Sydney Robotics Academy for hosting the competition, and Joe from Magikid Academy - Pymble for the loan of some last-minute spares. A special thanks to Mr. Vigar for organising the excursion, driving the bus, and keeping the students entertained with his questionable karaoke skills.
