Earth Science Week
Earth Science Week is a global movement that aims to increase the understanding and awareness of the importance of Earth science and its
value to our everyday lives. The theme of Earth Science Week 2024 is ‘Earth Science Everywhere’ and it was exciting to see the Farrer
community getting involved and deepening their knowledge of the world around us to discover how Earth Science really is everywhere!
Farrer staff and students celebrated Earth Science Week with a variety of activities, including Plate Tectonics puzzles, dinosaur model
constructions, analysis of ice core samples in the Earth Science laboratory, and a Geoscience Genius quiz for the whole school. The winners
of the quiz were students of 10 Parkes Roll Call class with an impressive score. Students of 7 Peel and 9 Oxley Roll Call classes also
performed very well and deserve a special mention.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to those students and staff who joined us for some fun, including Mrs. Ewin who hosted sessions at
the library, and Ms. Baker who created resources. We hope to build on our humble celebrations in years to come, however, in the meantime
please take every opportunity to engage with and learn about Earth Science.
