2024 Remembrance Day
Farrer Captains Dustin Wyrzykowski and Darcy Woollett represented the school with pride at the Remembrance Day service at Tamworth Town Hall yesterday, while the entire Farrer community came together last Thursday in an assembly to honour the Australian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom.
Year 12 student Sanchit Jagadeesan reflected on his journey of understanding Remembrance Day as an immigrant, shares how initially it was a day difficult to grasp, but gradually grew to hold deep and personal meaning. Through stories of young soldiers who fought and fell on distant shores, Sanchit reminded us of the profound impact of their bravery and the sorrow faced by their families.
Remembrance Day has become a cherished tradition at Farrer, uniting us all in honouring the legacy of those who served. Reflecting on his visit to the Australian War Memorial, Sanchit spoke of the enduring impact of their sacrifices. His speech calls on us to remember these sacrifices with gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy, urging us all to honour the fallen by striving for a peaceful world in their memory.
Lest we forget.
