SHAPE EXHIBITION 2021
Farrer Class of 2021 student Patrick Hickey celebrates HSC success in Technology.
On the 4th March, at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Patrick Hickey was presented with a certificate from NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to acknowledge his success in the course, Industrial Technology Metal & Engineering, which he studied as part of his 2021 Higher School Certificate (HSC) at Farrer.
Patrick, who hails from the Moree area completed his Industrial Technology major project on the production of an Automatic Clay Target Thrower. His motivation came from his six-year involvement at the Tamworth Clay Target Club as part of the Farrer Clay Target Shooting squad. Patrick had to demonstrate his proficiency in the use of a wide range of engineering and fabrication operations to build the clay target thrower. He also mastered computer aided drawing to create detailed workshop plans and he also developed a comprehensive eighty-page folio of research and planning.
Patrick’s major project was one of the 33 selected from 10,000 students doing Technology courses in the 2021 HSC and his achievement in this course contributed to a worthy HSC result which gained him entry into the University of New England where he plans to undertake studies in Agriculture and Business.
