Farrer School Foundation: About Us
Farrer School Foundation Inc was established for the sole purpose of “Building for the Future” of Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and its students.
Established in 1939, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School is located in Calala, a suburb on the outskirts of Tamworth NSW.
It is one of only three public Boarding Schools in NSW and home to over 300 boarding students and 300 day students.
Farrer has a strong agriculture focus and operates two farms which incorporate an Angus cattle stud and a White Suffolk sheep stud, as well as Merino sheep, Poultry, a Piggery and a Dairy. Upgrades are currently in progress for an extensive Horticulture facility.
Farrer has a state-of-the-art TAS facility, a modern and comprehensive Library, a 25m swimming pool, gym facilities and extensive sporting fields and grounds including a small golf course.
Farrer is a selective high school and is a proud and successful sporting school with an envious record in Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket and other sports.
Farrer enjoys the support of an active Parents Teachers & Friends Association and Old Boys Association.
The Farrer School Foundation manages four funds, three of which are Australian
Taxation office approved Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) funds,
being;
Farrer School Scholarship Fund
Purpose as defined in the Constitution: ....solely for providing money for scholarships, bursaries or prizes
that promote education to be used by
FMAHS which is a distinct fund established under division 30-25(1) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997) (Item 2.1.13), as
amended,
or established under any similar provisions under any replacement Act
Farrer School Building Fund
Purpose as defined in the Constitution: ....solely for providing money for the acquisition, construction and/or maintenance of a building or buildings to be used by FMAHS which is a distinct fund established under division 30-25(1) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997) (Item 2.1.10), as amended, or established under any similar provisions under any replacement Act
Farrer School Foundation Inc Rural School Hostel Building Fund
Purpose as defined in the Constitution: ....solely for providing money for the acquisition, construction or maintenance of the school hostel buildings to be used by FMAHS which is a distinct fund established under division 30-25(1) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997) (Item 2.1.11), as amended, or established under any similar provisions under any replacement Act
The Foundation also operates an Ancillary Fund which houses specific purpose non-DGR funds. These can include Awards & Prizes sponsored by businesses or individuals.
Farrer School Foundation differentiates itself from many charities in that 100% of donor funds are preserved for use in accordance with the objects and purposes of each of the funds. We do this by paying all operating costs from membership fees and fundraising activities undertaken by members. Every single dollar you donate goes to building for the future of students and the school.
