FARRER BULL SALE
The Angus Stud runs 120 HBR breeders and with offspring totals approximately 240 head. The Angus stud is run at ‘Brewongle’ and students are
actively involved in all aspects of its operation and management including vaccinations, selection of cattle, marking and collection of
production data leading to the on-site annual bull sale.
The operation of the stud, and its management, is tightly integrated into the school curriculum through the Certificate III Agriculture: Beef Course. The whole curriculum is tied to the annual operational cycle of the stud. The Annual Farrer Bull Sale is held in June and attracts buyers from all over the country.
FARRER WHITE SUFFOLK RAM SALE
The Farrer White Suffolk stud continues as an “Educational stud” and plays an integral part in the delivery of Year 9 - 10 Board Endorsed
Animal Management unit called Animal Studies. Students are actively involved in the direction and management of the stud. Their
contributions include; sire selection, crutching, shearing the sheep including the sale rams, vaccinating, drenching, lamb supervision, DNA
testing, and helping conduct the annual artificial insemination program, lambplan testing, pregnancy scanning and ram sale.
