Tony O'Connor
Head Teacher Junior Welfare / TAS
Tony has been teaching in the public education system for 13 years, joining the team at Farrer in 2012. Prior to this, he studied at the University of Newcastle, where he completed a Bachelor of Education / Bachelor of Design & Technology.
Tony has been heavily involved in the welfare and pastoral care of students at Farrer throughout this time, being a dormitory supervising teacher and Year Advisor for the Class of 2020. In 2025, he is relieving in the Head Teacher Wellbeing role. This role involves managing the school colour level system and working to ensure all students feel supported, safe, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.
A strong advocate for student growth and engagement through extra-curricular activities, Tony is heavily involved in the school’s Rugby Union program, coaching many teams and fostering teamwork and sportsmanship among students. Outside of school, he enjoys being outdoors with his 3 children and competing in a variety of different sports as a way of staying fit and healthy. He hopes to pass this enjoyment of being an active part of the community on to his students.
Tony is dedicated to equipping students with the tools they need to thrive, both at school and in their future endeavors, and hopes to leave a lasting, positive impact on the lives of Farrer's young men.
