Our academic, cultural, agricultural, and community awards were presented at our 79th Speech Day held in the Tamworth Town Hall on Friday 1st December.

Amongst our special guests we were privileged to welcome Mr Kevin Anderson, Member for Tamworth and Mr Col Murray, Mayor of Tamworth Regional Council who, along with other guests, presented a variety of awards to our students.

Many of our special guests annually travel great distances to present their prize and we are extremely thankful to them for their ongoing attendance.

Our guest speaker Old Boy Mark Sowerby (1983-1988) gave an extremely interesting insight into why and how in 2015 he successfully swam the English Channel to raise funds for charity.  His chosen charity was the Starlight Children’s Foundation and he raised almost one million dollars for his efforts. From listening to Mark I think our boys would have come away with plenty to reflect upon.  Watch Mark’s swim here

Speech Day is an occasion when our school can recognise its high, all round and consistently achieving students. It is also a time to acknowledge and thank our teachers, non-teachers, PT&F, School Council and community members for their contributions over the year.
