Nick Chisholm (Year 9) has been mountain biking for the last three years and is a member of the Tamworth Mountain Bike Club. Recently Nick competed in the National Schools Mountain Biking competition, held on the Gold Coast, finishing in the top 10 in the U17 age race. Nick was in the largest age group with 60 riders from all over Australia and placed –

Day 1 at Bond University – Time trial – 6th and  Eliminator – 7th

Day 2 on the  Commonwealth Games track at Nerang – XCO – cross country race  4 laps – 6th

In addition to this, last month Nick competed in the NSW State Mountain Bike Championships at the UNE track in Armidale run by Mountain Biking Australia and is now the NSW under 17 Mens State Champion. He had a fantastic race and has trained very hard; he starts the National Series very shortly and goes into the series ranked number 2 nationally.

Nick has two racing bikes and another training bike which, once he removes the rear wheel, he then links to the TV via an app on his phone. This enables him to ‘race’ a variety of courses and competitors. His goal is to win the Nationals next year. Go for it!
