You don’t necessarily have to be at the Flemington Race Course to enjoy all the fun of the Melbourne Cup and our boys certainly proved that to be true!

In the lead up to Tuesday our Year 11 (soon to be Year 12) cohort ‘kick started’ their fundraising for the year by collecting donations from junior students in order to wear a crazy tie with their greys, known as a ‘grazy tie’.

On the day these senior students dazzled us with their wild array of multi coloured apparel which they displayed at lunchtime by parading around the pool deck ‘strutting their stuff’. They were then followed by the juniors displaying their unusual tie, some possibly borrowed from their Dad’s wardrobe.

The festivities continued with a noodle/horse race in the pool and finished up with selected senior boys piggy-backing a Year 7 jockey around Centre Lawn in a mock up Melbourne Cup Race.

Thanks to Year 11 for adding their own special touches this annual event, to everyone who entered into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up (staff included), by donating money and to the Fec for organising the banga sanga lunchtime special. In total Year 11 raised $1300 so they are off to a flying start, like the horses.
