Just over a year ago, Jacob suffered a C4 spinal cord injury at a sporting event. This injury has left Jacob a quadriplegic and confined him to a wheelchair. In February this year, Jacob returned to Farrer to continue his education in familiar surroundings. Jacob is making steady progress back into his school life, but as you can imagine there are some major difficulties ahead for him.
The Learning and Support Team at Farrer has organised a Melbourne Cup Calcutta for November. Running in tandem to this will be various silent auctions that we plan to start prior to the event, with some being completed on the night of the Calcutta. calcutta invite
The money raised will go towards purchasing a new piece of equipment for the school’s Weights Room, which will further assist Jacob in his rehabilitation. The design of the equipment allows it to be modified so all our students can benefit from its use. Allowing all students to have use of this equipment will ensure that Jacob continues to have regular social interaction with his peers, and encourages his participation as it was prior to the accident.
