Farewell Assembly for Year 12
On the last Thursday of Term 3 we held the farewell assembly for our Year 12 cohort. This was a whole school event which also included the Year 12 students’ families who had been invited to witness their sons’ graduation from Farrer.
During the ceremony the graduating students were presented with their portfolios by Clint Gallagher (Acting Principal). Concurrently the students’ kindergarten photos were projected onto a big screen, which certainly caused a few laughs! This equipment (data projector and screen) was the gift to the school from Year 12 – 2015.
The calibre of the speeches was outstanding from the Year 7 students through to the Principal. Danne Levy (Year Coordinator) and Greg Prowse (Captain) delivered emotionally charged speeches which certainly showed the level of esteem that Danne is held in, by the boys, and also reflected her dedication to this group of boys over the past six years.
Another highlight was the film that Greg had compiled called “The last 6 years” which showed us just what type of mischief they had ‘got up to’ during their time at Farrer.
The standard of this assembly certainly ‘raised the bar’ which is something we are continually striving to do, and we all came away feeling proud to be a part of the Farrer Family.
During the evening many of our staff joined in the celebratory formal dinner/dance which was a highly enjoyable night – less formal than the assembly – with many people letting loose on the dance floor.
We wish our Year 12 students all the very best of luck in their HSC exams and hope that they all get the results they deserve and hope for.
