March 2017 update

The project team have been busy incorporating feedback from various stakeholders into the designs to refine the preferred layout. The design has now entered into the schematic design phase where the specific room layouts are developed and the selection of internal/external finishes and colours.
Community consultation is planned for the coming weeks which the school and wider community can provide comments on the design. The time and locations of the consultation will be advertised in the school newsletter and the Northern Daily Leader.
Design updates and other relevant information will continue to be provided to the school for display in the administration foyer.

February 2017 update

The project team developed a number of concept designs which were presented to the Project Reference Group (PRG). The Project Reference Group included staff and parent representation.

From there, the PRG has recommended a preferred design which will now be further developed by the architect.

The project now moves into the schematic design phase where:

  • Room configuration and furniture layouts are developed.
  • Initial colour schemes are selected.

The wider school and local community can now review and comment on the proposed design.

The concept drawings will be displayed in the school reception foyer. A consultation booth will also be coordinated where-by the project team can be asked specific questions and provide feedback via a comment sheet. The location and time for the consultation booth will be published in the school newsletter and the Northern Daily Leader.

January 2017 update

A Project Reference Group (PRG) has been established to provide input on the project and to keep the school community updated on progress.

Along with representatives from the department’s Asset Management team and the architect, the PRG includes:

  • Ruythe Dufty – Director, Public Schools NSW (Chair)
  • Clint Gallagher – Principal, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School

Throughout the last few months of 2016, the project team reviewed existing school facilities and underwent initial consultation with the PRG and school to facilitate the development of educational requirements tailored for Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School.

Investigations into domestic and international best practice education models were undertaken by the team and presented to school staff to assist with the development of school specific educational principles.

The project milestone achieved for this period was the endorsement of the Educational Principles and Functional Design Brief by the PRG. The project team is currently developing concept designs.

  • Information booths will be held in early 2017 where the school and wider community will have the opportunity to view plans/designs and provide input to the project team.
